Historic hoUSE museum RENOVATION

Kimmel Studio Architects is documenting the restoration and reconstruction of the covered front porch at an 1831 Federal-style plantation home in Prince George’s County, Maryland. We are guiding the design of the new porch to accurately replicate its documented 1890s appearance, using historical photographs and archival research as the foundation for the design. Our work focuses on historically accurate materials, traditional construction methods, and carefully detailed architectural elements, while preparing the drawings required for the Maryland Historical Trust (MHT) and the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC), with an emphasis on preserving the architectural integrity and heritage of this significant historic residence.
