About the RoleAre you a designer who loves to work with your hands just as much as you love building in 3D? Kimmel CRAFTED is seeking a versatile, high-energy Junior Industrial Designer to join our growing studio.
As we are in our startup phase, this isn't a "sit at your desk all day" kind of job. You will be an integral part of a small, nimble team, helping us bring high-end lighting, furniture, and objects from concept to reality. This is a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a design studio and see exactly how a brand is built.
What You’ll DoAs part of our early-stage venture, your day-to-day will be diverse. You will support the design process through:
Design & Development: Drafting technical drawings and creating 3D models for new lighting fixtures and furniture pieces.
Prototyping: Operating 3D printers and performing traditional model-making to test forms and functions.
Operations & Logistics: Managing orders, coordinating with vendors, and sourcing materials.
Studio Support: Assisting with the "myriad of tasks" that keep a design office running—from maintaining our Maker studio to prepping pieces for shipment.
Who You AreA "Maker" at Heart: You have a degree in Industrial Design (or a related field) and a portfolio that shows you understand how materials behave and how things are put together.
Technically Proficient: Skilled in CAD/CAM and parametric modeling, utilizing Inventor, SolidWorks, or Rhino and comfortable with Adobe Creative Suite.
Adaptable: You thrive in a startup environment where "that's not in my job description" isn't in your vocabulary. You are happy to pivot from 3D modeling to talking to a machinist to packing a delicate glass globe.
Detail-Oriented: You understand that in high-end craft, the difference between "good" and "great" is in the final millimeter.
Why Kimmel CRAFTED?The Best of Both Worlds: We offer the grit and excitement of a startup, backed by the stability of our parent company Kimmel Studio, which houses Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Interior Design studios.
Collaborative Culture: You’ll work alongside experts across multiple disciplines, providing a holistic view of the design world.
Location: Work in the heart of beautiful Annapolis, Maryland, in a studio dedicated to the art of making.

Reporting directly to COO Maria Ruhlmann, PhD, and CEO Devin Kimmel, this person will take ownership of keeping the marketing program moving. They will coordinate priorities, manage calendars and deadlines, produce marketing materials, organize photography and video assets, manage digital channels, support paid advertising, and ensure that projects, products, and company initiatives are consistently presented at a high level.
They will not be responsible for setting the entire company’s marketing vision independently. Instead, they will be responsible for ensuring that the strategy established by leadership is organized, produced, launched, maintained, and measured.
This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role for a senior operator who moves seamlessly between planning and production, strategy and execution—and who can personally create polished graphics, campaigns, presentations, advertisements, and digital content.
Your Role
You will serve as our Senior Marketing Manager, responsible for keeping the entire marketing machine moving independently across our architecture, interior design, procurement, and crafted product lines.
Key responsibilities include:
Campaign & Content Management: Execute the marketing strategy established by the COO and leadership. Maintain the master marketing calendar, campaign schedule, award calendar, and content pipeline.
Copywriting & Storytelling: Write and edit compelling project descriptions, award submissions, captions, newsletter copy, website text, and editorial outreach materials targeting a luxury, affluent audience.
Graphic Design & Asset Production: Personally create polished graphics, presentations, print collateral, advertisements, and digital assets. Organize, label, and maintain libraries for photography, video, projects, products, and brands.
Vendor & Partner Coordination: Work closely with studio directors to identify project stories and coordinate with photographers, videographers, freelancers, and outside creative partners.
Digital & Channel Execution: Manage Instagram, Pinterest (developing boards for architecture, interiors, products, and design), website content, and email marketing. Assist with Google Ads, campaign tracking, analytics, and performance reporting.
Awards & Recognition: Prepare project materials and submit entries for annual design, architecture, and business awards.
Structure & Follow-Through: Track inquiries, contact lists, and campaign activity, bringing structure, consistency, and a high standard to all ongoing marketing efforts.
WHAT YOU BRING: QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.
Approximately 5–8 years of relevant marketing, brand, communications, or creative-industry experience.
Strong graphic design and visual communication skills with hands-on proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or comparable design software.
Excellent written communication, editing, and storytelling skills, with a refined aesthetic and tone suited for a luxury, affluent demographic (focused on quality, status, and permanence).
Working knowledge of digital marketing channels: Instagram, Pinterest, email marketing platforms, Google Ads, analytics, and website content.
Demonstrated experience managing photography, video, and digital brand assets.
High level of autonomy, self-direction, and accountability with a genuine interest and good taste in architecture, interiors, craftsmanship, materials, and design.
Preferred:
Direct experience in design-industry marketing, architecture, luxury goods, or high-end product/service marketing.
Experience with design awards submissions and editorial/media outreach.
Hands-on experience using AI tools (Gemini, ChatGPT) for content drafting and research efficiency.
