REMEMBERING the Enslaved

This memorial proposal honors the African Americans enslaved by William & Mary through a contemplative space woven into the historic campus. A circular pavilion with a suspended lantern rises above a planted mound, while descending entrances lead to a sunken courtyard with sculptural figures and a central water feature. Connected pathways bring remembrance into the daily life of the campus.
