Managing Principal

Devin Kimmel is a dual-licensed Architect and Landscape Architect whose work is defined by a rare, unified vision of architecture, landscape, and interior design.

As Managing Principal of Kimmel Studio, Devin leads a multidisciplinary team in the planning and execution of a diverse portfolio—ranging from luxury developments and high-end restaurants to waterfront estates, historic mansions, and healthcare facilities. By treating the structure, its surrounding environment, and its interior experience as a single, cohesive work of art, he ensures that every project feels both intentional and deeply rooted in its specific site.

A master of classical proportions and a dedicated student of European architectural history, Devin balances traditional expertise with a penchant for award-winning modern innovation. He views his technical knowledge as a toolkit for collaboration; his mission is fulfilled only when a client—whether a homeowner or a commercial stakeholder—looks at the finished design and sees their own identity reflected back.

“It is their building, not mine”, Devin explains.
“I am the pencil in my client’s hand so that they can feel the project is uniquely for them. My job is to give architectural and interior form to their vision”.

This collaborative spirit is why the firm’s designs are so varied, earning Kimmel   Studio  a  place  on  the  Forbes   Top   200 American  Residential Architects of 2025 and the Fixer Top 100 Architects of 2025. Devin’s excellence in historic preservation was cemented with the prestigious  John  Russell  Pope  Award,  while  his  mastery  of  integrated environments was recognized with the Oasis Overall Outdoor Living Design award.

The firm’s interior design division has also achieved international acclaim, sweeping the APR Interior Design Awards in three distinct categories: Healthcare, Private Residential, and Residential Interior Concept.

These honors join a long list of accolades, including being named “Architect of the Year” by the AIA Chesapeake Bay Chapter and receiving top design honors from the University of Maryland.

From leading the preservation of the landmark 1705 Cloverfields estate to being a finalist in national monument competitions, Devin brings a world-class pedigree to every commission. He resides in Annapolis, Maryland, with his wife, son, and two daughters, enjoying the short daily walk to his studio in the heart of the city.
