Here is a design for the renovation and restoration of a building for the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Tradition and modernity combine. The first floor is all new and features open and luminous spaces. New technology is incorporated in every floor, and the signage respects the University's design standards. At the same time, the design celebrates the historic fabric of the street by replicating the look of the original period in some of the details. It restores the windows to the original style and reinterprets the entry facade with a new entry canopy that fits within the style of the windows, of the building and of the street. The building does not want to sit alone, but to be an integral part of the urban fabric.
